Delete your account

You can delete your StepMatches account at any time. Deletion is permanent — we can’t undo it once it’s done.

Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest path and works for every signed-in user.

  1. Open the StepMatches app and sign in.
  2. Go to your Profile tab.
  3. Tap the Settings icon at the top.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  5. Confirm. Your account is removed immediately and you’re signed out.

Request deletion by email

Use this path if you can’t sign in — for example, you lost access to your device, your email address, or you deleted the app before deleting your account.

Email contact@stepmatches.com with the subject “Account deletion request” from the email address tied to your account, and include:

  • The email address or phone number you signed up with.
  • Your display name, if you remember it.

We process email deletion requests within 7 days and reply when your account has been removed.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we remove:

  • Your profile, name, age, location, and bio.
  • Your photos and any identity-verification files you uploaded.
  • Your matches, reactions, invites, and event RSVPs.
  • Your messages and chat threads.
  • Your sign-in credentials and session tokens.
  • Any reports or blocks tied to your account.

What may be retained

  • Backups — encrypted backups can take up to 30 days to roll off, per our Privacy Policy.
  • Safety records — if you were the subject of a safety report, we keep the minimum metadata needed to enforce our Community Code against repeat accounts. This does not include your profile content.
  • Legal or financial records — only where the law requires us to keep them.

Apple, Google, and email sign-in

Deleting your StepMatches account does not revoke Sign in with Apple or Google access at the operating-system level. To also remove StepMatches from your Apple ID’s authorized apps: Settings → your Apple ID → Sign in with Apple → StepMatches → Stop using Apple ID. For Google: visit myaccount.google.com/permissions.
